Rocket Girl’s cover and title alone had me interested in this book, and the premise is equally intriguing – Dayoung Johannson is a teenage cop in a high-tech future who is sent back to 1986 to investigate crimes against time. However, as in any story involving time travel, she’s up against a pesky paradox.
Image has been on a roll lately with some great titles, and Rocket Girl is definitely one of them. Dayoung is a fun, determined protagonist, and the art style matches her personality – fun, lively and colourful, especially in the 1986 setting.
Really, the worst thing about it was that there was a lot of potential, and that there was a lot that could have been – but wasn’t – explored.
