White Night will be returning to Melbourne in 2014 for twelve hours between 7pm 22 February to 7am 23 February, filling Melbourne’s streets, parks, buildings and cultural institutions with “art, entertainment and lifestyle experiences across music, food, film, sport and light”.
White Night Melbourne 2013 will bring together performers and artists from Victoria, Australia and the world, to create a “precinct of discovery” stretching along Swanston Street from the National Gallery of Victoria to Franklin Street, from Elizabeth Street up Collins and Bourke Street towards Spring Street, and along the Yarra from Southbank to the Swan Street Bridge, including Birrarung Marr and Alexandra Gardens. Institutions such as the NGV, ACMI, the State Library of Victoria, Arts Centre Melbourne and Melbourne Museum will be open all night.
Inspired by international phenomenon Nuit Blanche, over twenty cities from four continents have held a White Night. White Night Melbourne will be recognised at the Helpmann Awards for ‘Best Special Event of 2013’.
Artists, performers and organisations can register interest in participating in White Night Melbourne from mid-August at www.whitenightmelbourne.com.au
