Melbourne Festival, and Marzo Competition

It’s one of our favourite times of year: the Melbourne Festival is coming up, and with it comes two fantastic shows at Arts House (and a competition!)

Marzo is a dance work created by Italian company Dewey Dell in collaboration with two prominent Japanese artists, playwright and director Kuro Tanino and visual artist Yuichi Yokoyama. Described variously as “super flamboyant”, “groundbreaking” and a “Gesamtkunstwerk” (I don’t know what that means either), Marzo takes its name from the month of March, which has long represented the month of war. It is an eccentric exploration of love and hate, war and peace.

It runs from 10th October to 14th October, 7.30pm at Arts House in North Melbourne.

Tickets are: $40 (full), $25 (concession) and $15 (student), book at or (03) 9322 3713.

Win tickets to Marzo with Pop Culture-y! Arts House has provided us with a double pass to Marzo at Arts House on Saturday 11th October at 7.30, with a free post-show Q&A. All you have to do is like our Facebook and comment on this post with what you think “Gesamtkunstwerk” means. (It doesn’t have to be right, just funny.)

The winner will be announced on Monday 6th October.

Since I Suppose is a mobile, immersive journey through Melbourne’s places of power and pleasure. Involving video, audio, site-specific occurrences, unexpected connections and fragments of Shakespeare’s Measure for MeasureSince I Suppose asks participants to engage with the questions of Shakespeare’s play and participate and respond to the world(s) of power and pleasure encountered along the way. With only two people in each journey, Since I Suppose is an intimate, unconventional affair.

It runs from 15th October to 26th October, with several performances each day. It begins at Grand Hyatt Melbourne, ending in North Melbourne.

Tickets are: $65 (full) and $45 (concession), book at or (03) 9322 3713.
