Yes, it’s that time of the year again! Hundreds of comedians are converging on the fair city of Melbourne for a month of hilarity. Running from March 29 to April 23 across one hundred venues all around the CBD and inner suburbs, the city has once again become a veritable rabbit warren of comedy. With acts performing everything from children’s comedy and mime, to late night drunkcasts and saucy cabaret, there is something for every age group and comedic predeliction. Welcome to the 31st Melbourne International Comedy Festival!

Zoe Coombs-Marr is back with her multi-award winning Trigger Warnings, sketch trio Aunty Donna are Big Boys now, and Rove McManus is back on our fair shores. Festival staples Wil Anderson, Frank Woodley and Luke McGregor all have brand new shows, and there are plenty of brand new acts sure to become festival staples, like first timers Leaky Bucket, Bec Petraitis & Martin Dunlop, and Bridie Connell.

As always there’s a huge international contingent. Dara O’Briain is here for JUST ONE show on April 4 that’s sure to sell out, Jason Byre is touring his madcap Irish sensibility yet again, as is David O’Doherty. From North America, Arj Barker will be reinstalling himself in the Town Hall, Headliners is back with a selection of the USA’s best, and Canadian Shirley Gnome is Taking It Up the Notch with her musical comedy stylings.

There are special events abound, including the Gala for Oxfam, Upfront, RAW Comedy, Deadly Funny, Comedy Confab, The Great Debate and the Opening Night Comedy Allstars Supershow, which will officially kick off the festival on Wednesday 29 March.

It’s going to be a wild month; head on over to for tickets, show details and accessibility information.
